Story By Michael Goins -Shock G, known to many as the front man for the legendary group Digital Underground was in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend performing at Club Fiesta Paradise. Like many rap artists that helped form the game in its early stages, the group is no longer filling the 20,000 seat arenas, but makes a living performing the groups hits in smaller nightclub settings. That was the case this past weekend at Club Fiesta in front of just over 500 fans. #Click The Arrow To Play Video
I will also say 500 enthusiastic fans. Digital Underground set the rap world on fire when it was in its prime. Famed rapper Tupac Shukar many will acknowledge, got his start with the group.
“I don’t talk about violence in my music”, says ShockG, “We all know its out there, but I choose not to glorify it”. Straight talk from a rapper in this age of “Hustlenomics”,”Bling”, “Beef” and the quest that many rappers seem to be on of pursuing and bragging about their wealth and fame. “We don’t give the Shorties a chance” says ShockG. “Before they have a chance to grow up, they are being bombarded with images and lyrics depicting violence”. ShockG talks candidly with WAXXTV in this interview about life.
