Columbus, Ohio _Story By Michael Goins.. Just what The Ohio State Buckeyes needed to jumpstart their season was a win to solidify their #3 ranking in the AP Top Twenty. They got that win last night on their way to a rather easy victory over The #8 ranked Florida Gators 81-74. “Gators For Lunch?” Yep, this win will definitely give the Buckeyes a hefty dose of confidence early in the season. The big questions for Ohio State early in the season have always been, what would be the play of the young players and is this team for real?
“Florida stung us early”, said Ohio State coach Thad Matta. “As young as we are we were constantly making adjustments at timeouts. We were changing how we were guarding things. We kept playing offensively and did a better job at executing. We didn’t play perfect tonight. We are going to look at this and learn. For our program we beat a great team tonight.”

Well maybe not a great team, but a good team with several good athletes. The problem for them this night was that Ohio State is also a good team with a few more good athletes. Sullinger, Thomas, Smith, Craft, Buford, all contributed to the cause.
